Culture

The former fortifications of Zellenberg were built from 1315 onwards. Two corner towers on the eastern side and a section of wall on the south-western side have survived. Some of the remaining parts of the fortifications are listed as historic monuments.

The present-day parish church of Saint Ulrich was built on the fill of the moat. The year 1760 is inscribed above the western portal; the construction work was commissioned in 1759 and accepted in 1761. Its bell tower is octagonal and topped by a small spire.

The monumental Christ figure is stylistically dated to the beginning of the 16th century and has been protected as an object under heritage protection since 14 November 1991. It is generally attributed to the sculptor Paul Windeck from Sélestat; in 1508, Windeck was commissioned to carve a Christ figure for Zellenberg.

The Zellenberg Discovery Tour is a very easy 680-metre walk with a stated duration of one hour.

The Géovino climate trail begins at the totem pole on Zellenberg’s church square, runs along Rue du Schlossberg through the village centre and then continues into the vineyards.
