Culture

The Chapelle-ossuaire Saint-Michel dates from the late 15th or early 16th century and has been listed as a historic monument since 9 July 1986. The present-day Chapelle de la Sainte-Croix was rebuilt in 1806 and is located on the Sonnenberg in Wihr-au-Val. The Ancienne porte de Ville is also listed as a historic monument. The Fontaine (D) was built in 1774.

Wihr-au-Val is the only wine-growing village in the canton of Munster. Its vineyards are part of the municipal appellation “Val saint Grégoire”; the varieties grown are Riesling, Pinot, Sylvaner, Muscat and Gewurztraminer.

Domaine Schoenheitz in Wihr-au-Val offers individual cellar tours all year round by prior appointment. For groups, the offer comprises four reception packages for 8 to 40 people, including cellar tours, guided tastings and vineyard tours, as well as Kougelhopf and Munster fermier au lait cru. There is also a guided wine education trail through the vineyards and wine tastings accompanied by specially selected dishes.
