Culture

The Protestant church in Muhlbach-sur-Munster was consecrated on 4 January 1930 and stands on the site of the former simultaneum church, which was destroyed by bombardment on 21 June 1915. The Catholic parish church of Saint Bartholomew was consecrated on 26 May 1929 and is characterised by the religious Baroque architecture of southern Germany.

A document dated to 896 confirmed the ownership of the parish church of Muhlbach-sur-Munster by the Abbey of Munster.

The Musée de la Schlitte et des Métiers du Bois was founded in 1973 and renovated in 1997. It displays types of wood, forestry and logging work, as well as wood processing, thereby preserving a traditional craft practised by earlier generations. The museum also commemorates the former sled drivers of the Munster Valley and their work transporting logs and firewood.

Nature

In spring, the green forests, wildflowers and glistening lakes at Gaschney invite visitors to hike and go for walks while discovering the flora and fauna of the Vosges. Cycling is one of the activities available to visitors at Gaschney in summer. In winter, Gaschney offers opportunities for snowshoeing and tobogganing.

Local

The Brasserie du Marcaire in Muhlbach-sur-Munster produces traditionally brewed beers and lemonades. The Marché du Terroir takes place on Sunday mornings in July and August from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Place du Weier, opposite the bakery.

The Ferme-Auberge du Gaschney offers several seasonal menus, including the “Suggestion du fermier”, which is prepared using products from the farm.
