Magstatt-le-Bas: Holiday apartments and houses
Culture and history
At Saint Michael's Church, archaeological excavations in 1983 revealed six construction phases. These include an original sanctuary dating from the 11th to 12th century, which was surrounded by a cemetery.
The choir of Saint Michael's Church is decorated with numerous statues of the Holy Helpers. Until the beginning of the 20th century, Saint Michael's was an important pilgrimage site.
Saint Michael's Church also houses the altarpiece of the Fourteen Holy Helpers, featuring three paintings. It was probably created between 1620 and 1630 and classified as a protected object.
The furnishings also include a large neo-Gothic organ: Martin Rinckenbach built the instrument in Ammerschwihr in 1890, while the organ case was made by Théophile Klem from Colmar at approximately the same time.
