Culture and History

The Musée des métiers du bois is dedicated to the tree in the forest and woodworking from the late 19th to the early 20th century. In addition, the Chapelle Saint-Wandrille is the only sanctuary in Alsace dedicated to Saint Wandrille. Its front gable wall, made of hewn stone, has a porch and three trefoil pointed-arch windows; above it rises a wooden bell turret, while the roof is covered with slate.

The Chapelle Saint-Wandrille was rebuilt in 1888 and 1889, severely damaged during both world wars, restored by parishioners, and reopened for worship in 1978.

Nature and Hiking Trails

The small summit of Gestion reaches 876 m and offers views of the Pays Welsche and the Hautes Vosges. Labaroche’s hiking trail network is also clearly organized: it has five starting points near various car parks in the municipality. The signposted circular trails are open to the public and lead through the municipality’s varied landscapes.

Family Experiences

At Ferme à La Bassette, around 80 Angora goats are kept for mohair production. The educational farm regularly welcomes groups and families to introduce them to the animals, breeding, and mohair products.

Another option is the playful hike “balade ludique - le château du Hohnack”: families can hike and solve age-appropriate puzzles. The grounds of Château du Hohnack are visible at all times, but access to the castle grounds is prohibited.

Mountain Biking

The mountain bike circuit “Circuit VTT 8 – le tour de Labaroche” starts in La Place, passes through Giragoutte and by the Croix de Wihr, runs near Château du Hohnack, and then descends to Moreyfontaine.
