Culture and History
The Église catholique de l'Invention de la Sainte-Croix in Kaysersberg is protected as a historic monument. The Tour Kessler is a square tower approximately 22 metres high.
The chapelle Saint-Michel et ossuaire was rebuilt in 1463; its vaults are decorated with paintings from the early 16th century. The fortified bridge over the Weiss was rebuilt in stone and is said to have been fortified in 1514.
Kaysersberg Castle was built around 1200 to block the routes coming from Lorraine. Visitors can climb the 122 steps to the top of the keep and, in good visibility, enjoy a panorama of Kaysersberg, the entrance to the valley, the vineyards and the Black Forest in Germany. The castle is permanently open and can be visited independently.
The Centre Schweitzer presents the life of Albert Schweitzer and his commitment to peace and humanity through an interactive exhibition and personal belongings. The Musée Historique de Kaysersberg is located in a former half-timbered house and conveys the events that shaped the town and its inhabitants.
