The Maison Albert Schweitzer in Gunsbach was inaugurated on April 5, 1929. Its museum comprises six rooms that trace Albert Schweitzer’s life from childhood to his rise to fame. The African part of his life is presented through objects and documents. The new building of the Maison Albert Schweitzer museum conveys the ethic of “Respect for Life” and offers visitors an introspective experience.

Meltwater flowing down from the peaks of the Vosges formed the Vallon de Gunsbach.
