Wissembourg is an Alsatian town at the foot of the Vosges, between vineyards and forests.

Culture
Wissembourg’s red sandstone town hall was built between 1741 and 1752. Since 1933, the fortifications of Wissembourg have been protected under the French list of historic monuments as part of an additional registration.
The Abbey Church of Saints-Pierre-et-Paul is the second-largest Gothic church in Alsace after Strasbourg Cathedral. Most of the building dates from the 13th and 14th centuries; its west tower and the chapel adjoining the cloister preserve Romanesque remains from the 11th century.
The Westercamp Museum is Wissembourg’s municipal museum and bears the French designation “Musée de France”. It preserves multidisciplinary collections focusing on local history, archaeology, art and folk traditions, bourgeois furnishings, and the Franco-Prussian War of 1870.
Among the Westercamp Museum’s most significant holdings are lithographs of Wissembourg by the printer Wentzel, bourgeois furnishings from the 17th to the 19th century, and archaeological material from the Wissembourg region.
Medieval murals are visible on the upper floor of the sacristy of the Protestant Church of Saint-Jean-l’Évangéliste.
The cultural services of the town of Wissembourg are housed in the former Dominican convent church, which was built at the end of the 13th century.

The fortifications of Wissembourg form a green belt with walking areas and a fitness trail. Within the fortifications, this fitness trail features 13 stations over a distance of just over one kilometre.
A historical discovery walk of around 5 kilometres leads through the centre of Wissembourg and its medieval lanes and takes just over an hour. The discovery routes in Wissembourg are signposted with directional signs and information boards in French, German and English.
The 1.9-kilometre shaded Par’Coeur santé walking trail runs along the Lauter and the fortifications of Wissembourg and is suitable for wheelchair users and families with pushchairs.
