Westhoffen: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Westhoffen is home to the Protestant Saint-Martin Church, which was built between 1250 and 1310 and is one of the last hall churches in Alsace. The present-day synagogue of Westhoffen is a pink sandstone building from the second half of the 19th century in the Neo-Orientalist style.

Culture

The fortification wall of Westhoffen dates from the 14th century, was raised in the 15th century and has six towers. The fortifications were listed as a Monument historique in 2000 and 2015; in 2017, they were classified as a Monument historique.

The oldest graves in Westhoffen's Jewish cemetery date from the late 19th century. A wall fountain installation at the entrance bears the year 1931. The gravestones bear French and Hebrew inscriptions and are arranged in five rows.

Several historic buildings can be found around Westhoffen: Château des Rohan is a palace, Château de Turckheim is a castle, Château Guirbaden is also a castle, and Château du Grand Ringelstein is a ruined castle.

Nature

Around Westhoffen are the Cascade du Nideck waterfall, Grand Ringelsberg mountain, Le Schneeberg mountain and Schieferberg mountain.

Activities

The BL921 cycling route – Le vignoble du Roi Dagobert – passes through Westhoffen.

The Sentier découverte et viticole de Westhoffen combines a section through the village with vineyards, fruit trees and woodland. The sections in the village are equipped with six information panels, while the wooded sections have four.

The route can be explored independently all year round. It passes through the Verger Conservatoire de Cerises, where around sixty varieties of fruit trees can be discovered.
