Rosenwiller is a wine-growing village in the hills above Rosheim. A walk through the vineyards of Rosenwiller offers panoramic views over the Alsatian plain.
Those considering Rosenwiller as a travel destination may want to rent a holiday apartment there.
Wine and gastronomy
The Promenade des Fines Bouches is a culinary walk organised annually on a Sunday in May. The 7-kilometre-long, hilly walk combines gastronomic breaks with wines from the village at every kilometre.
The Alsatian grape varieties cultivated in the village since the 6th century can be tasted at local wineries.
Nature
The protected Holiesel and Berg area is a limestone hill covering around 30 hectares above Rosenwiller and has been managed by the Conservatoire des Sites Alsaciens (CSA) since 1989. The area's dry grassland provides a habitat for numerous species, including orchids. Information boards have been installed in the protected area to inform walkers.
Culture and history
The Church of Notre-Dame de l’Assomption in the centre of Rosenwiller features significant elements of Gothic architecture. The church also contains two remarkable stained-glass windows dating from 1340.
The Jewish cemetery of Rosenwiller dates back to before 1366 and is one of the largest and oldest Jewish necropolises in Alsace.
