Culture
The museum in Barrack No. 1 displays various objects collected in the camp and traces the history of National Socialism. The former Natzweiler-Struthof concentration camp in Natzwiller is now the Musée des Déportés. As a former concentration camp, Natzweiler-Struthof is also protected within the French system of historic monuments.
The Nécropole Nationale in Natzwiller is also part of the memorial landscape. It contains 1,118 graves of French men and women who died during deportation at KL-Natzweiler or in other camps. The Centre européen du résistant déporté (CERD) presents the history of resistance in Europe against fascist and National Socialist rule across 2,000 m² of exhibition space.
A smaller historical feature is the Chapelle de Notre-Dame de Lourdes in Natzwiller, which probably dates from the late 19th or early 20th century.
Trails
The Chemin des Déportés runs for approximately 4 km from Rothau railway station to the former camp. Information panels explain the history of the route as an introduction to visiting the memorial site. The Chemin des Déportés also forms an 8 km hiking loop with an elevation gain of 350 m.
Hiking trail C22 connects the former Auberge du Struthof, which became the gas chamber, with the former pink granite quarry and passes through the grounds of the former Natzweiler-Struthof concentration camp. The Struthof memorial site can only be reached by private car or a chartered coach.
Landscape
The Sentier panoramique invites visitors to discover the local trees and plant life and offers views of the landscape of the Rothaine Valley. A variation of this trail allows for a round trip to the former granite quarry of the Struthof camp.
