Marlenheim is located at the northern entrance to the Alsace Wine Route.
Renting a holiday apartment in Marlenheim is one possible way to plan your own trip.
Culture and History
Among the protected buildings is the house at 66 rue du Général-de-Gaulle, which is partially protected as a historic monument. The protection covers the façade with its stair turret and the external staircase.
The parish church of Sainte-Richarde preserves masonry from the south wall of a 12th-century church, as well as an entrance portal with a sculpted tympanum. The church was rebuilt in 1716 and restored in 1745.
The present-day Château Petite Sorbonne was built around the middle of the 18th century and probably served at that time as the residence of the bailiff. Marlenheim’s architectural heritage also includes Renaissance houses with turrets.
The Marlenberg is home to an 18th-century Baroque Way of the Cross with seven stations made of pink sandstone. It ends with Christ on the Cross, which is attached to the façade of the chapel. The Chapelle du Marlenberg was built in 1683 and extended in 1772; this extension added a Baroque Way of the Cross.
Landscape and Activities
The Circuit des 3 Chapelles starts at the Marlenheim tourist office. The route is 16.8 kilometres long, includes 386 metres of ascent, takes five hours, and has a moderate level of difficulty.
The Chapelle du Marlenberg offers panoramic views over the plain and, in good weather, of Strasbourg Cathedral.

Around Marlenheim are Château de Turckheim, a castle, and Château des Rohan, a palace. In the wider region surrounding Marlenheim are Cascade du Nideck, a waterfall; Grand Ringelsberg, a mountain; Hirschberg, a mountain; and Le Schneeberg, a mountain. Château des Rohan, a palace, is also located in this wider regional area; Château Guirbaden, a castle, is there as well.
