Lohr is located in the Isch Valley between the sandstone massif of the Vosges and the calcareous Lorraine Plateau. More than 580 hectares of the municipality are covered by state forest. Lohr is also located in the core zone of the Vosges du Nord Biosphere Reserve.

Nature
In the town centre, departmental roads 122 and 107 intersect. The Rehbach forest road connects Petersbach and Graufthal. From Graufthal, a forest road suitable for vehicles leads downhill through a picturesque beech high forest into the scenic Rehbach Valley, where fishponds are located.
Routes
The family-friendly mountain-bike circular route “Sur le plateau” passes through Lohr. Another route, “La Petite-Pierre à Dossenheim”, also passes through Lohr.
Culture
A notable architectural detail in the town’s history is the oldest reused sandstone door frame: it dates from 1619. Neoclassical door frames first appeared in Lohr in 1824. Examples can be found at 3, 14 and 34 Rue Principale, 13 Rue d'Ottwiller and 9 Rue de Petersbach.
The former church in Lohr had a round bell tower with very thick walls and a narrow Gothic nave. When the former church was destroyed, a fragment of a stele presumably dating from the 3rd century AD was discovered in 1876. Neolithic and Roman finds, as well as Merovingian graves, have also been found in Lohr.
Local Traditions
In the past, the women of Lohr made the traditional Schleckel by reducing pear or plum juice in copper kettles. On Maundy Thursday (Griendonnersdaj), the mothers in Lohr prepare a vegetable purée made from seven different green plants.
