The permanent exhibition “Le château de Lichtenberg, un chantier perpétuel” explains, using models, reconstructions, interactive installations and educational materials, how the Château de Lichtenberg has changed over the centuries.
In 2010, the Château de Lichtenberg became the Centre d’Interprétation du Patrimoine (CIP), an institution of the Conseil départemental du Bas-Rhin, with the thematic focus “Patrimoine et Création artistique”.
Each edition of “Les Médiévales du château de Lichtenberg” includes, among other things, treasure hunts, guided tours, craft demonstrations, talks and parade performances.

Hiking Trails
The long-distance hiking trail GR53 leads from Niederbronn-les-Bains to Lichtenberg in a 18.9 km stage; this route has a listed ascent of 841 metres.
In the opposite direction, the GR53 runs from Lichtenberg to La Petite Pierre in a 17.2 km stage, with 406 metres of ascent.
The “Circuit des fontaines” is a 7 km circular trail with a duration of around 2 hours. It leads along forest paths, minor roads and through hamlets at the foot of the Château de Lichtenberg; various springs, fountains and washhouses can be found along the way.
Getting Around
Throughout the season, the cafeteria at the Château de Lichtenberg offers hot and cold drinks as well as sweet and savoury snacks; depending on the season, light meals are also available. Two outdoor terraces offer views of the Northern Vosges.
The Château de Lichtenberg can be reached by car, bicycle and – with certain limitations – public transport.
