Culture and history
The Château de Froensbourg in Lembach was classified as a historic monument by decree of 6 December 1898. The former Vitzthum d'Egersberg manor house, also known as Manoir de Fleckenstein or Schloessel, is partially listed as a historic monument.
The Château de Froensbourg was built in the 13th century and has numerous rooms carved into the rock.
The Ouvrage du Four à Chaux comprises 5 kilometres of galleries located 30 metres underground. The complex is situated on a hill above the village of Lembach. At the Ouvrage du Four à Chaux, visitors can see the former dormitories, sanitary facilities, kitchens and infirmary.
“La Meule: du bois, du charbon, des hommes” is an interpretation area dedicated to the history of charcoal and charcoal burners at the foot of Château de Fleckenstein.
Paths and routes
The “Boucle des châteaux forts et des forêts” route begins at Lembach Town Hall. At its starting point, visitors can admire old houses made of Vosges sandstone.
The “Balade ludique à Lembach” interactive trail is available in three versions for children aged 4 to 12 and for the whole family.
