Nature and Water

Lac d’Huttenheim covers 2.5 hectares. It has a sandy beach, a seasonal playground, a volleyball court, a table tennis table, as well as picnic tables and benches. Swimming is supervised in the designated area from mid-June to the end of August.

Paths through the Ried

The Discovery Trail: the Treasures of the Ried is an 11-kilometre hiking trail. It runs between cultivated terraces and flood-prone areas.

Culture and History

The Chapelle Notre-Dame du Grasweg is the oldest fully preserved medieval building in Huttenheim. It features late-medieval murals depicting the Flight into Egypt, Jesus among the Doctors, the Nativity of the Virgin Mary and the Dormition. The chapel also houses a statue of the Virgin Mary and Child dating from 1420. Since 2002, it has been listed in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments.

The Église Saint-Adelphe was built in 1843 according to plans by the architect Antoine Ringeisen. An older nave dating from 1750 was converted into the choir; the church also has a bell tower dating from 1582. It houses an organ built by Michel Stiehr in 1809. Several funerary monuments of local dignitaries can be seen in the Bible garden.

The Calvary cross is dated 1739. It comprises sandstone statues of the Virgin Mary and Saint John, as well as a cast-iron Christ.
