Architecture

In Hœnheim, the “Terminal multimodal de Hoenheim-Gare” was designed by Zaha Hadid. The “Terminal multimodal d’Hœnheim” comprises a park-and-ride car park, a tram and bus station, a bicycle storage facility, and a shop. The “Terminal du tramway de Hoenheim” received the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture Mies van der Rohe in 2003.

History

The Chapelle Saint-Jean has a square tower with three storeys. The first written reference to the Chapelle Saint-Jean, dedicated to Saint John the Baptist, dates from 1350. The Romanesque tower of the Chapelle Saint-Jean was built in the 12th century.

The “Etangs de la Vogelau” comprise meadows, ponds, and walking paths. Numerous waterfowl and other birds live at the “Etangs de la Vogelau”. The ecosystem of the “Etangs de la Vogelau” is protected by the three municipalities of Bischheim, Hœnheim, and Schiltigheim.

The Vitaboucle system was developed by the city and the Strasbourg Eurometropolis to enable everyone to engage in free physical activity outdoors.
