An annual programme offers insights into the Forêt indivise de Haguenau: “Trésors cachés de la forêt indivise de Haguenau” provides expert-led excursions on biodiversity, history and forestry throughout the year. The activities are aimed at all audiences and are available from March onwards.

Culture and History
The Musée Alsacien is located in Haguenau’s former medieval chancery. It displays an extensive collection of utilitarian and decorative objects that have documented everyday life in Alsace since the beginning of the 19th century.
The Musée Historique houses objects from more than 750 Bronze and Iron Age graves discovered in the necropolises of the Haguenau Forest. Its collections also include numismatic and archaeological objects, as well as items from the crafts and folk traditions.
The Porte de Wissembourg is a remnant of Haguenau’s former town wall. The lower gateway dates from the 14th century; its current appearance is the result of modernisation in the 16th century.
Forest and Trails
The Gros-Chêne site is the starting point for numerous signposted hiking trails, cycling tours and mountain bike routes. It also features a fitness trail and a path accessible to people with reduced mobility and pushchairs. The site is accessible year-round. The patronal feast of Saint-Arbogast is celebrated every year at the end of July at the small chapel built in 1955.
The access route to the GR®532 leads from the centre of Haguenau to Walbourg, showcases the heritage of the Forêt d'Exception® de Haguenau and forms part of the Camino de Santiago routes.
A playful forest circuit in the Forêt de Haguenau invites visitors to collect clues and solve a puzzle. A game booklet is available in three versions; children aged four and over and the whole family are mentioned as target audiences.
The Grand tour Haguenau-Eschbach route combines historical and natural heritage. It heads northwest through the Forêt d'Exception® de Haguenau, through pine forests and deciduous woodland, across fields and along the edge of the forest beside the charming village of Eschbach.
Nature and Art
The ornithological observatory is suitable for observing nature. Among other species, herons, moorhens, ducks, kingfishers and great crested grebes can be found there. It is located at a restored former clay-mining site, where a section created by underwater extraction has been preserved as a pond.
The Monument du Chêne is accessed via a path with seven steles bearing short texts that invite visitors to reflect on their relationship with trees and nature. The Monument du Chêne is a work by the internationally renowned German contemporary artist Gloria Friedmann and stands in the forest a few hundred metres from the Gros-Chêne site.
