Boofzheim combines historic architectural heritage with a casemate trail that can be explored independently year-round and several cycling routes. Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Boofzheim can include the accommodation as a separate element of their travel planning.

Culture and history

The Eglise paroissiale Saint-Etienne has been documented since 1211. It was rebuilt in 1522; the tower entrance and the beginning of the nave from this construction phase have been preserved. In 1935, the church was partially listed as a Monument historique.

The Maison d'Art Populaire Alsacien de Patrick Singer also represents the local culture. The private collection is housed in an imposing farm building in Boofzheim and comprises more than 17,000 items. Guided tours are offered for groups and individuals by prior arrangement.

Exploring the area

The Sentier des casemates can be explored independently all year round and is 2.5 kilometres long. Along the route are a casemate that served as a command post, infantry and engineer casemates, an anti-aircraft casemate, and a machine-gun emplacement.

For cyclists, BL463 – Plans d’eau et matelote starts in Boofzheim on the EuroVelo 15 cycle route. The 34-kilometre cycling route runs along paved roads as well as cycle paths or cycle lanes. Another signposted route is BL976 – Jungle Rhénane, which is 42.6 kilometres long.
