Hiking near Paradise and in the Lerkenfeld Valley

The trail near Paradise is on private land and is open to pedestrian traffic. The Paradise routes begin at a rest area on the Viborg–Løgstør road. This gives your day a clear starting point without requiring you to combine the various trails into a single route. One route leads to the fjord at the mouth of the Lerkenfeld Å. If you are looking for a longer, signposted circular route, the Lerkenfeld Å Valley Trail is an approximately 10 km loop that includes Gedsted.

The nearest bus stop is Vesterbro in Gedsted; it is approximately a 25-minute walk from the starting point of the Paradise hiking routes. At Nørrevangen 18 in Gedsted, archaeological investigations documented 29 houses. The site is dated to the Early Roman Iron Age. Nørrevangen 18 is therefore a specific historical point of reference for exploring Gedsted’s early settlement.

At Paradise, you will also encounter more recent historical traces. The sunken lane was used in earlier times to drive cattle to the meadow. Remains of Second World War trenches are visible on the cliff.
