Church and Milling Heritage

Bælum Church dates from around 1200 and is a medieval church built of granite blocks. On the south side of the chancel is a chapel from 1616 associated with Anne Krabbe, the widow of Erik Kaas. The chapel contains a tombstone for Erik Kaas and his two wives, Berete Seefeld and Anne Krabbe. South of the church, between the porch and the chapel, there is also a Romanesque tombstone with carved lines and a cross. These details give the local history specific names, dates and visible forms.

Bælum Mill stands on Præstens Høj, one of the two highest points in Bælum Municipality, approximately 60 metres above sea level. The mill offers insights into local history and milling heritage.
