Boeslum combines an open stretch of Kattegat coast with distinctive natural features and historical interest. At Boeslum Beach, a broad beach meadow covered in grass and flowers meets clear water and a rocky reef close to shore. The Boeslum coastal landscape area extends along the Kattegat coast; from the coastal foreland, there are views across the Kattegat and towards the island of Hjelm. You can discover the area through both its beach landscape and the distinctive formations and habitats along the coast.

Beach and Reef on the Kattegat

The broad beach meadow is covered in grass and flowers. The water at Boeslum Beach is clear and becomes deep relatively quickly. A rocky reef lies just offshore, with scenery that includes small fish and hermit crabs; flatfish may also be seen there. The meadow, water and reef each give the beach its own character. If you are interested in nature by the water, you will find not only open coastal views here, but also a reef close to shore with a variety of wildlife to look out for.

Coastal Landscape and Nature

In places, vegetation around Boeslum Beach reaches the coast and screens the holiday homes from the shore. A small population of the globally rare coastal mason bee lives at Boeslum and Dråby Beach. The Blue Flag is also part of the beach scene: Boeslum is among the beaches in Syddjurs Municipality that have received this distinction. Since the Blue Flag is awarded annually, it is best to check its status for your travel dates.

For an active time on the water, Mols Bjerge National Park offers guided snorkelling trips seasonally at Boeslum Beach. If you would like to include this activity in your plans, check the dates for your travel period in advance. This makes snorkelling a seasonal option that you can fit into your holiday plans accordingly.

Getting Around the Area

The shelter at Boeslum Beach serves as a base for kayaking, hiking and cycling in the surrounding area. Each activity offers a different perspective: on the water, on foot or by bike. The shelter comes with one clear restriction: camping is not permitted there. The Sporet ved Dråby trail runs along Purbækken in Boeslum Gunger and is another named landmark in the landscape.

Traces of Earlier Times

Boeslum Gunger was an ancient sea inlet that once connected Dråby Lake to the sea. During archaeological excavations at Boesholm Voldsted, remains of a farmstead dating from the 14th to the 17th century were uncovered. The site is near the now-vanished village of Boeslum, close to Ebeltoft. These clues tell of different aspects of the past: the former connection between lake and sea, and a farmstead whose remains belong to a clearly defined period.

Choose the Right Holiday Home

When looking for a holiday apartment or holiday home in Boeslum, you can start by considering which side of the area you would like to shape your holiday: the beach and coastal views, nature around the reef, or activities in the surrounding area.
