Femmøller: Trails, Mills and Mols Bjerge

Femmøller combines nature trails, historical traces and experiences by the water in a special way. The village is one of the gateways to Mols Bjerge and is crossed by the Mølleåen stream. Hiking with different trail profiles

The marked trail begins at the car park opposite Femmøller Efterskole and leads up a steep slope into Mols Bjerge. Over 3.5 km, it passes through woodland and heathland to Strandkær. Along the way, the route passes through a protected natural forest with rare plants, butterflies and small animals.

Longer tours can also be planned from Femmøller. The Bjergetapen is a circular route; a shortened version is 10 km long, starts and ends in Femmøller and is shortened at Tremosevej. The Ebeltoft stage can be started in Femmøller. In addition, the three stages of the Mols Bjerge Trail meet at the car park in Femmøller. Cycling, the beach and nature experiences

The landscape can also be explored by bicycle. Femmøller By is a suggested starting point for Rundt om bjergene, a hilly, 15 km cycling route through and around Mols Bjerge. Femmøller Beach is located nearby. The water there is relatively calm and conditions are good for swimming. The beach also offers good conditions for sea kayaking and using small boats. Public toilets and access to drinking water are available there as well. Behind Femmøller Beach, Egil Fischers Mindepark is located directly by the beach. It is considered a beautiful natural area and is part of a Ferienbyen planned in the 1920s, which is regarded as Denmark’s first planned Ferienbyen.

Mills and historic architectural heritage

The Mølleåen is more than just a landscape feature: Kjerris Mølle is one of the four preserved historic mills along the Mølleåen in Femmøller. Femmøller Efterskole provides another distinctive link to the region’s history. It is housed in the region’s first seaside hotel, built in 1909. This means that a stay in Femmøller can also be explored from a cultural and historical perspective, without the trip having to focus solely on hiking.
