Discover Hostavice: Nature, Park and Local History

Hostavice combines remarkable nature experiences with a multifaceted local history. Those planning a trip around different interests will find the V Pískovně Nature Reserve with its high biodiversity, Pilská Park as a place for relaxation and active leisure, as well as historical traces from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. This combination helps you choose suitable accommodation based on the desired focus of your trip.

V Pískovně Nature Reserve and the Hostavický Stream

The V Pískovně Nature Reserve lies on the boundary between Hostavice and Dolní Počernice. It is characterised by high biodiversity, including a number of rarer aquatic and wetland plants. The area is also significant from an ornithological perspective: several waterbird species regularly breed there. This creates a clear focus for nature enthusiasts, with plant life and birdwatching at the centre of the visit.

Hostavice is also located in the Klánovice–Čihadla Nature Park. The Hostavický Stream divides the locality into two parts and flows into the Rokytka in the Čihadla dry polder. These geographical features give the locality its own distinctive landscape character. Those wishing to combine nature experiences with sightseeing when planning their trip can choose the location of their holiday apartment or holiday house according to their personal interests, without limiting themselves to just one type of excursion.

Pilská Park for Relaxation and Exercise

Another facet of Hostavice can be seen in Pilská Park. It was created as a zone for relaxation and active leisure. Following its revitalisation, the park gained a complete network of paths, a multi-purpose sports court and a children's playground. This gives different age groups their own ways to enjoy their stay: while some visitors use the park for exercise, others can plan a quieter time surrounded by greenery. Families can take the playground into account when planning a varied day; the multi-purpose sports court adds an active option to the facilities.

A prominent pedunculate oak is also part of the local scenery. It stands in the village square of Hostavice, has a trunk circumference of 340 centimetres and is 19 metres tall. Such specific details make a walk through the locality just as interesting as the larger natural areas. The village square, Pilská Park and the nature reserve each provide different focal points, without needing to be presented as one shared circular route.

Historical Traces in the Old Centre

Hostavice has a history that can be traced back over several centuries. Archaeological finds indicate that the locality was probably founded in the first half of the 13th century as an archbishop's estate. The oldest written mention of Hostavice dates from 1432. Both details offer a historical perspective on the locality, but differ in what they state: the archaeological evidence concerns the presumed foundation, while 1432 is regarded as the oldest written mention.

In the old centre, the small chateau known as Hostavický zámeček was built on the site of the former farmstead No. 9. Another historical connection leads to the Kolman Farm: in 1934, Tomáš Baťa's company bought the farm with all its agricultural buildings, the chateau, the park and the associated land, which also included Hostavický zámeček.

The bell tower is also connected with a tradition concerning the local history. A container found during repairs to the bell tower is said to indicate that the Hostavice bell tower probably dates from 1730.
