Culture and History

The Church of the Beheading of Saint John the Baptist in Dolní Chabry is a well-preserved Romanesque building with a rectangular nave and semicircular apse. It dates from the third quarter of the 12th century. The apse contains Romanesque frescoes depicting Christ in a mandorla, the Virgin Mary, John the Baptist and life-size apostles.

Another historical monument is Knorův statek, a single-storey building belonging to a Baroque estate dating from the second half of the 18th century. The farmstead has been protected as a historical monument since 1966. The protected complex includes residential building no. 15, a granary, a barn, the main gate with a wicket gate and the enclosing walls.

The Dolní Chabry menhir is known as “Kamenný slouha”. The approximately 1.5-metre-high stone is made of light-grey silicite, resembles a bent figure and probably comes from the nearby Ládví hill.

Nature

A smaller part of the Drahaňské údolí valley lies within the territory of Dolní Chabry, while the larger part belongs to Praha 8. The valley is a valuable natural landscape and habitat for many animals.

The Dolní Chabry educational trail is subtitled “Gateway to Prague’s Prehistory”, has 16 stops and is approximately 6 kilometres long.

Prague Integrated Transport bus route 162 runs towards Kobylisy via the Dolní Chabry and Bílenecké náměstí stops.
