Okres Plzeň-Sever: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Okres Plzeň-Sever combines Baroque cultural monuments, forested landscapes, cycle paths and water activities. Plasy Monastery was extensively rebuilt in the Baroque style between 1661 and 1785. Today, a special guided tour of the historic water system is offered there. Plasy Monastery is also a national cultural monument and has been awarded the European Heritage designation.

Culture

Manětín Chateau and its park are designated as a national cultural monument. Manětín Chateau Park is designed in the English landscape style and includes a pond, a hermitage and a pavilion.

Mariánská Týnice is a former pilgrimage site and a Cistercian provostry associated with Plasy Monastery. The Mariánská Týnice complex has been included in the list of national cultural monuments of the Czech Republic since 2018. According to plans by Jan Blažej Santini-Aichel, the pilgrimage church was built on a Greek cross floor plan; it is crowned by a central dome.

The Museum and Gallery of North Plzeňsko presents exhibitions on the history of the region and is described as having been based in Mariánská Týnice since 1952. The Centre for Architectural Heritage in Plasy presents the history of building techniques and construction materials.

The Pňovany Bridge was completed in 1901 and can be crossed by pedestrians and cyclists.

Nature

Manětínská Nature Park contains several hiking and cycling trails. It is largely covered by a continuous forest complex with native tree species and a valuable herb layer.

Odlezelské Lake can be reached from nearby Odlezly by car or on foot. At Hromnické Lake, a viewpoint is reached after approximately 100 metres; the lake can be circumnavigated on foot.

Cycle paths

Three Baroque cycling circuits start from Plasy. The Baroque cycling routes in the wider northern Pilsen area have different levels of difficulty. They use marked cycling routes of the Club of Czech Tourists, which bear the West Bohemian Baroque logo. Ten Baroque rest stops in North Pilsen offer views of important monuments.

The Postřelím cycling tour is 49.4 kilometres long and suitable for trekking or mountain bikes. It starts at Žihle railway station on the Plzeň–Žatec railway line. Along the route, Rabštejn is described as having a castle, a chateau, wooden houses, an inn and a church.

The Baroko I cycling route passes the Baroque farmsteads of Kalec and Sechutice; Mariánská Týnice is described as the highlight of this route. The Baroko III cycling route leads through Baroque avenues and wild forests, including to Kaceřov.

Water

Visitors can take boat trips on the Hracholusky Reservoir. The boat trips operated by Transkemp Hracholusky stop at several points around the reservoir. Water skiing is possible at the Hracholusky Reservoir.
