Semily District: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Semily region lies in the foothills of the Krkonoše Mountains and forms the northeastern part of Český ráj. Nature

Hiking

Trosky Castle is a ruin from the late 14th century standing on two volcanic basalt rocks; its towers are called Baba and Panna. It can be reached by bus to Hrubá Skála, Borek and then via a 3.5 km-long route on the blue hiking trail. Direct connections are available from Turnov, Jičín, Hradec Králové and Liberec. Marked trails also lead to Trosky from Sobotka, Hrubá Skála, Valdštejn, Borecké skály and Podtrosecké rybníky.

The KČT Semily maintains approximately 100 km of hiking trails in its area of responsibility, Semilsko. The Kamenického Trail follows the upper edge of the Jizera Valley and offers views from several rocky outcrops, including Myší skála. An approximately 9 km-long circular route in Semily runs mostly on asphalt and paved paths and is recommended for families with prams.

Culture

The Muzeum a Pojizerská galerie in Semily presents art exhibitions, themed exhibitions, fairs and permanent exhibitions about personalities from Semily and the history of the region. Gallery XY in Semily focuses on regional art and crafts and offers craft workshops as well as meetings with craftspeople.

The Muzeum techniky in Háje nad Jizerou displays historic cars, motorcycles, stationary engines, cameras and radios. The Muzeum drahých kamenů – Votrubcův lom presents a gemstone exhibition and offers visits to the quarry. The Muzeum Českého ráje in Turnov features geological and mineralogical exhibitions, demonstrations of gemstone processing, historic jewellery craftsmanship and a permanent mountaineering exhibition.

The Muzeum pilníků is located at an authentic site in Semily where files were once manufactured. Harrachov Glassworks offers tours of its glassworks and hands-on glass activities in the workshop of the Glass Museum.

Winter

The Nad nádražím ski area in Semily has a 400-metre-long slope, a platter lift, skiing and snowboarding lessons, and night skiing. Regional bus route 5 connects Harrachov, Rokytnice nad Jizerou, western trailheads in the Krkonoše Mountains and Jilemnice.
