Zdice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In the centre of Zdice, the heritage-protected complex of the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary stands on the main road. The complex comprises the church, the mortuary chapel and the surrounding stone wall.

Culture and Townscape

The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary in Zdice dates from the mid-18th century. The present Baroque building was constructed in 1747–1749 after the original Gothic church had been demolished.

Zdice Town Hall is listed as an immovable cultural monument. Its cellar contains preserved Gothic barrel vaults.

The Zdice cinema is a cultural monument and a unique building in the spirit of Cubist architecture. It is located at 481 Zahradní Street and was built in 1926–1927 according to a design by Jaroslav Pouch and Václav Zazvonil. The building features Rondo-Cubist decoration; its main façade bears a sculpture by Vlastimil Amort.

The Army Museum Zdice is located on the grounds of the former Zdice barracks on Čs. armády Street. It presents the military history of the 20th century, focusing on the Second World War and military technology.

Poncarovy Zdice is a cultural event established in 1999. As part of it, the residents of Zdice commemorate the composer and conductor Josef Poncar with a brass band concert.

Nature and Activities

Knihov Hill was transformed into a forest park in 1923. The Lesopark Knihov educational trail includes 12 exercise elements as well as the Tyršova Trail for children, with tasks to complete.

The Zdice swimming pool complex also includes a children's playground and a beach sports area. Hájemství zelené is a hiking and cycling tour held in the second half of April.

A direct train service on line R16 runs from Prague Main Station to Zdice; the journey takes approximately 50 minutes.
