Culture

Praskolesy was first mentioned in 1216. The built-up area of Praskolesy is classified as a Category UAN I archaeological area and includes a village, a settlement and a burial site dating from the Middle Ages to the modern era.

The foundation stone of the parish church of Saint Nicholas was laid in 1620; the church was completed in 1710. It stands on a slight elevation in the village centre, south of the village square. On the northern side of the church slope, a covered staircase leads to the cemetery wall. At its foot stands a cast-iron memorial cross on a stone pedestal.

South of the church is the Chapel of Saint Procopius. It has a rectangular floor plan with a three-sided termination and features Gothic windows and a Gothic portal. Inside is a statue of Saint Procopius dating from the late 14th century; wall paintings by J. Scheiwl can also be seen there. Deans of the Karlštejn Chapter were buried in the Chapel of Saint Procopius.

On a small island in the middle of the village square stands the Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk, a small late Baroque building from 1832. Inside is a statue whose pedestal is dated 1758.

The deanery of Praskolesy is a Baroque building from the late 17th century and was formerly the seat of a dean of the Karlštejn Chapter. It is located in the northwestern part of the municipality by a bridge over the Červený potok. The parish of Praskolesy is a two-storey Baroque building from the first quarter of the 18th century. It lies northeast of the Church of Saint Nicholas; a large garden extends to the south and southeast of it.

Nature

Praskolesy's landscape features include the significant Červený potok watercourse with riparian and accompanying greenery, a floodplain landscape with alluvial woodland, ponds and wetlands, as well as the adjacent wooded slopes.

Koupaliště u skály is a functioning combined local biocentre covering an area of 5.4 hectares. The biocentre includes a former swimming pool, ponds, an ash-alder floodplain forest, as well as woodland with rock outcrops above the right bank of the watercourse. The LBK.55-56 Červený potok biocorridor in Praskolesy is predominantly functional, 1,290 metres long and covers 3.6 hectares.

Routes

The blue-marked hiking trail runs through Praskolesy along the Žebrák–Chlustina–Praskolesy–Otmíče–Lochovice route. The green-marked hiking trail only partially touches the southern tip of the cadastral area of Praskolesy at the Pohodnice farmstead.

Local Life

The multi-purpose sports field in Praskolesy is in operation and intended for recreational use by residents and for local sports clubs.
