Otmíče is defined by Otmíčská hora: the archaeological area is classified as an important archaeological site (ÚAN I). The summit lies at an altitude of 401 m in the Hořovická pahorkatina uplands and forms a distinctive landmark.
Archaeology and history
The small La Tène hillfort near Otmíče covers approximately 2.8 hectares. It consists of an acropolis and possibly outer baileys to the northeast and east, and is surrounded by stone ramparts. The ramparts of the Otmíčská hora hillfort located to the north and east are clearly visible and 4–5 m wide. Archaeological finds also indicate that settlement in Otmíče is older than the stated date.
Village character
In the built-up area of Otmíče, the Chapel of St John of Nepomuk stands on the village square. The masonry building has a rectangular ground plan, a three-sided apse and a small bell tower rising from the roof ridge. Landscape and nature
The Otmíčská hora geological site features basalt rock. An abandoned wall-stone quarry is located on the summit and on the steep southwestern and southern slopes. Otmíčská hora is also home to thermophilous plants of rocky steppes and woodland plants of grove vegetation growing on diabase.
Paths and orientation
The Otmíčská hora geological site lies 500 m south of Otmíče and can be reached from the road via a walkable tourist trail. In addition, a marked blue hiking trail leads from Žebrák via Chlustina, Praskolesy and Otmíče to Lochovice.
