Culture
The history of Žloukovice dates back to 1357, when the village was first mentioned in the founding charter of the Karlštejn chapter. The log buildings of the Žloukovice Farmstead, arranged around the main courtyard, were built at the end of the 18th century as an agricultural estate. Another distinctive feature is the late Baroque bell tower of Žloukovice, which is considered a landmark of the village.
Landscape
Žloukovice lies on the right bank of the Berounka, approximately four kilometres northwest of Nižbor. The Vyhlídka Čerchov viewpoint is located in the surrounding area. From a rocky outcrop, it offers a broad view upstream towards Žloukovice.
Transport
The Rakovník–Beroun railway line crosses the Berounka near Žloukovice. Many local residents worked on its construction in 1876. Žloukovice railway station is integrated into the public transport system.
Trails and Water
The Stations of the Cross in Žloukovice begins at the Žloukovice forester’s lodge. A red-marked hiking trail also runs by the Žloukovice forester’s lodge. The Stations of the Cross was ceremonially opened to the public on 22 August 2020. In addition, the family-run Admirál boat rental company is based in Žloukovice.
