Neumětely showcases its history at the listed parish church of St Peter and Paul: it was built in the 14th century, has a Gothic core and was remodelled in the Baroque style in the mid-18th century. The church also houses an organ dating from 1887.
Culture
The listed Šemík Monument stands in a small park behind the cemetery by the road. It was erected in 1887 and is a cenotaph in the form of an ancient temple in the historicist Neoclassical style.
The listed bell tower was built after 1763 and constructed entirely of wood. It has a shingle roof, a floor plan measuring almost 6 by 5 metres and a total height of just under 7 metres. The bell tower contains a single surviving bell with an inscription dating from 1637; today, it is rung only in the event of deaths and funerals.
History
There is a belief in Neumětely that Šemík, the loyal horse of the knight Horymír, is buried there.
The circular castle site was formerly surrounded on all sides by water and ramparts and had a diameter of approximately 45 metres.
Hiking and visiting
A red-marked hiking trail leads from Neumětely towards Želkovice and Málkov. Tourist stamps and visitor cards are available at the municipal office and at the U Horymíra restaurant.
