Jivina lies at an altitude of 485–525 m and combines a clearly defined local history with paths leading up to Jivinská hora. The first written reference dates back to 1368.
History and Townscape
In 1368, Zbyněk Zajíc of Valdek donated half of the village of Jivina to the Svatá Dobrotivá Monastery. The other part came into the possession of the Lobkowicz family in 1537 and remained under their rule until 1848. The local fire brigade also has a long history: it was founded in 1923 and is still active today.
The chapel stands on elevated ground in the southeastern part of Jivina. A cast-iron cross stands next to it.
Landscape and Trails
The “Přes Jivinu za podbrdskými roubenkami” hiking trail leads from the outskirts of Jivina up to Jivinská hora. The mountain has two peaks; from the wooded peak, there is a view of Jivina and the surrounding area. A yellow-marked hiking trail also passes through Jivina.
