Chodouň lies on the banks of the Litavka. The river flows through the village and divides it into two parts. Located below the forested Studený hill, the similarly forested Na studeném hill is also partly within the cadastral area of Chodouň; it is 418 metres high.
History and Culture
The first written mention of Chodouň dates back to 1271, when the village was mentioned as part of the Žebrák estate. Part of the village’s history is also connected with the composer Josef Poncar: a memorial plaque is located on the birthplace of the musician, who was born in Chodouň, and he composed the Chodouň polka. Chodouň is also notable for the unusual appearance of the pseudo-Romanesque Chapel of St. Ludmila.
