Sveti Đurađ: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The parish of Sveti Đurađ was first mentioned in 1332. Sveti Đurađ has been mentioned under various names in medieval sources since 1280.

Pokladni svatovi is a local carnival custom in Sveti Đurađ in which men and women exchange roles. The cultural association KUU “Franjo Ebling” also organizes “U Varoš na poklade”, a folkloric event dedicated to the carnival customs of Sveti Đurađ.

Wine and Local Traditions

The Vincekova celebration in Sveti Đurađ includes a mass at the Chapel of Saint George, the ceremonial pruning of grapevines, and the sprinkling of sausages with wine.

The “Sveti Vinko” Winegrowers’ and Fruit Growers’ Association from Virovitica celebrates the feast day of Saint Vincent in Sveti Đurađ every year, in cooperation with the Virovitica Tourist Board.

KUU “Franjo Ebling” has revived the traditional production of Repovača; this very strong fruit brandy is considered something of a trademark of Sveti Đurađ.

The “Virovitički vidici” wine road begins at the edge of Golo Brdo, runs through Podgorje and Sveti Đurađ, and continues to Antunovac and Milanovac.

Routes and Landscape

The 63-kilometer “Podravski krug” cycling route leads to Sveti Đurađ, where it reaches the foothills of the Bilogora Mountains.

The “Staza Dabrova” route begins and ends at the Virovitica Ponds, where free parking and a picnic area are available.

In the wider area around Sveti Đurađ, near the Virovitica Ponds, lies the four-kilometer “Virovitička Bilogora” educational trail. The circular walk takes about an hour and a half at an easy pace and includes eleven information boards about the flora and fauna of Virovitička Bilogora.

In the wider area around Sveti Đurađ, the Virovitica Ponds form a series of nine ponds and are considered one of the region’s richest fishing areas; recreational and sport fishing are possible there year-round.

In 2018, a shelter with benches and tables was installed at the viewpoint in Sveti Đurađ. A shelter with a water connection is planned for the “Vidikovac Sv. Đurađ” viewpoint.
