Culture

The cemetery of the parish church of St. George contains medieval tombstones in the form of massive, decorated stone crosses dating from the 15th and 16th centuries. The parish church itself was built in the 1930s on the site of an earlier church from the 18th century. Its floor plan is cross-shaped; it also has a semicircular apse and a bell tower on the façade. Roman inscriptions and reliefs can be found in the cemetery wall.

Below Vojnić, in the fields, stands the small single-nave Church of St. Clare with a gabled roof. Several medieval cross-shaped tombstones are located next to the church.

History

Vojnić and Gardun share a history that dates back to their liberation in 1686. Vojnić subsequently received new settlers from Bosnia and the neighbouring Poljica area.

Routes

The 14-kilometre Nutjak cycling route passes through Gardun and Vojnić. It connects the settlement's sacred heritage with Nutjak Fortress and the landscape of the Cetina.

On the cycling route to Vojnić, the asphalt changes to light gravel for approximately one kilometre before the first houses.
