Biskupija: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Culture

The Crkvina Basilica was a three-nave building with a tripartite western section and a western bell tower. In the 9th century, the church served as the mausoleum of a Croatian dynasty. In the 11th century, Biskupija became the residence of the Croatian court bishop.

The Biskupija Archaeological Park is considered the most important archaeological site in Croatian national history and the largest medieval archaeological site in Croatia. Saint Mary's Church in Biskupija is associated with the earliest known depiction of the Virgin Mary in Croatian art.

Biskupija is associated with five church sites: Saint Mary at Crkvina, St. Cecilia at Stupovi/Cecela, a church at Lopuška glavica, a church at Bukokorovića podvornica, and a church near the Orthodox Church of Holy Trinity. A memorial church was built on the foundations of Saint Mary's Church between 1937 and 1938, based on a design by the Croatian sculptor Ivan Meštrović.

The Stupovi site contained a pre-Romanesque three-nave basilica with three apses. This basilica is dated to the 9th century. Lopuška Glavica contained a single-nave longitudinal church with two apses; 54 graves were securely identified around the church there.

Cycling

The Lopuška glavica cycling route passes through Biskupija along the Knin–Potkonje–Biskupija–Kovačić–Knin route. It is 17.06 kilometres long and has a total elevation gain of 133 metres.

Gradina is located in the surroundings of Biskupija. Jejinska Pećina and Kravarski Kuk are in the immediate vicinity. Crna Glavica and Todorovića Pećina are also located in the surroundings of Biskupija. In the wider regional surroundings of Biskupija are Donje Peulje as well as Mramorje, Pržina and Zagrabež, Gor. Kazanci.
