Drenovec: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Gradina-Kukma is designated under reference number P-4875 as a preventively protected immovable cultural property and as an individual archaeological heritage site. The archaeological site is located east of the settlement of Drenovec in Varaždin County.

Circular pits, possibly a tumulus, as well as two hillforts have been identified at Gradina-Kukma; the pits are probably prehistoric. According to preliminary findings, Gradina-Kukma is a multilayered archaeological site that can, at this stage, be dated to the prehistoric, ancient and medieval periods. Gradina-Kukma is so far the only known site in the central part of the Kalnik Mountains that may have been used in antiquity.

Mineral Springs

Cooled thermal water emerges from the Drenovec mineral spring. Alongside Apatovac, Drenovec is listed as one of two named mineral springs.

Paths

County road Ž2110 connects Jalševec Svibovečki with Drenovec and continues to Ljubelj Kalnički. An educational hike combines an introduction to the history of the village of Drenovec with a walk to the Gradina-Kukma archaeological site.

An alternative for mountain bikers leads uphill from Jalševec Svibovečki towards Drenovec and continues uphill from Škarnik. One excursion option is to drive to Drenovec and walk from there to the Gradina-Kukma archaeological site.

Routes

The approximately 14-kilometre Camino stage from Kalnik to Varaždinske Toplice is announced for 11 April 2026 as a walking and pilgrimage route over the green slopes of Kalnik to the healing springs of Varaždinske Toplice.
