Požega: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Požega Cultural Summer 2025 featured more than 60 events. These included exhibitions, concerts, theatre performances, workshops and readings.

Anyone choosing Požega as a travel destination will want to rent a holiday apartment there.

Culture

The Franciscan Church of the Holy Spirit preserves late Romanesque, Gothic and Ottoman architectural elements. Its richly decorated 13th-century Romanesque portal is considered one of the largest of its kind in Croatia; the church is also considered the oldest partially preserved church in Požega.

The nave and sanctuary of St Lawrence's Church were built at the end of the 13th and beginning of the 14th century. The church is one of the oldest Gothic sacred monuments in Požega to have survived Ottoman rule in Slavonia.

The Požega City Museum was founded in 1924 and is the second-oldest museum in Slavonia. Through its eight departments, it manages around 85,000 artefacts, books and publications. The Diocesan Museum in Požega includes collections of sacred, modern and contemporary art, as well as ethnographic, graphic and medal collections.

Grgurevo is a traditional commemorative event in Požega celebrating the liberation of the city from Ottoman rule on 12 March 1688.

Nature

Sokolovac offers views over the Požega Basin towards Krndija and Papuk Nature Park. A developed mountain trail from Kalvarija leads to St Anne's Chapel on Sokolovac.

Požega's visitor attractions include Sokolovac and the Tekija Promenade, which is known for its spring of cold, drinkable mountain water.

The Walk&Run trail Požega is a 9.33-kilometre route that starts and ends at the Holy Trinity Square. The trail includes vineyard paths, lavender fields and viewpoints.

Cuisine

Požeški kotlić is a traditional public event centred around cooking Slavonian Čobanac. “Muzej u loncu” is a collection of traditional recipes from Požega, the surrounding area and eastern Croatia.

The travelling exhibition “Museum in the Pot” interprets cultural influences on local gastronomy.
