History

Osobjava is already documented in a land contract from 1392. Stinjiva was inhabited as early as the 14th century. The two foundational settlements are Osobjava and Stinjiva. In 1464, a family from the area around Konjic settled in Osobjava.

The present-day settlement of Osobjava developed more significantly after the arrival of refugees. The settlement’s history includes refugees from the Neretva area and Herzegovina, as well as citizens of Dubrovnik who left Brštanik and Driva ahead of the Ottoman advance.

A damaged column made for the Rector’s Palace of Dubrovnik still stands beside the road in Osobjava. Croatian-English information boards have been installed beside the Church of Our Lady of Health. Large information boards featuring panoramas of Osobjava and Popova Luka have been installed at the entrances to Osobjava and Popova Luka.
