Unije: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Unije is an island with around 30 kilometres of paths on macadam, dirt and rocky terrain, suitable for hiking and mountain biking. Those wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Unije can then continue their search for accommodation.
Getting Around
Unije is served by boats from Mali Lošinj and catamarans from Rijeka, Pula and Zadar. There are no cars on the island; visitors explore it on foot or by bicycle. A small airport connects Unije with Lošinj.
Paths lead from the village to Unijsko polje, Maračuol Bay, the viewpoint at Hartina Cape, the lighthouse at Vnetak Cape, Arbit Cape, Goligna Bay and Vele Stijene. Goligna Bay has two pebble beaches; from there, there are views towards Osoršćica, Ustrine, Žeća and Martinšćica.
Coast and Water
Unije village beach is just a few minutes' walk from the settlement. Swimming, diving, fishing, snorkelling and sailing are possible in the island's bays. Vele Stijene are high cliffs on the western side of Unije, reached from the settlement after approximately an hour's walk.
Maračuol was formerly the site of a fish factory and is now an anchorage for boaters and sailors.
Culture and Culinary Delights
The village Church of Saint Andrew is described as a landmark of the island. It was originally built in the 15th century and is designated as the church of the island's patron saint on the official visitor route.
In the local taverns, squid is prepared in various ways. In November, Unije also hosts the squid-fishing competition Unijska lignjada.
