Culture and History

The Piperata Old Masters Collection is exhibited at Palača Fritzi. The palace was rebuilt as a historicist palace at the end of the 19th century, after the first municipal administration of Mali Lošinj had been located at this site.

The Museum of Apoxyomenos is located in Kvarner Palace, directly on the waterfront of Mali Lošinj, and is intended to be the permanent home of the statue of Apoxyomenos. Visitors can reach the museum on foot; there is no dedicated parking, although municipal parking is available. The exhibition leads through nine scenes and transitional zones to a final room containing the bronze sculpture.

Moored in front of the museum is the Lošinjski loger Nerezinac, an interpretation centre for maritime heritage. The presentation focuses on the crew, provisions, cargo, sea routes and shipbuilding. Nerezinac is also a protected cultural asset of the Republic of Croatia.

Water

Water-based activities associated with the Mali Lošinj area include kayaking around Koludarac, diving, sailing and windsurfing. Lessons in windsurfing and sailing are also available.

The underwater archaeological park in Mali Lošinj comprises 11 exhibits installed at depths of 5 to 15 metres. Licensed divers and non-divers can visit the park as part of the Discovery Dive programme, accompanied by a diving instructor.

Nature

Many bays around Mali Lošinj have low, accessible shores. The shores are predominantly rocky, with sections of white gravel.

Miomirisni Otočki Vrt is home to more than 250 species of wild-growing aromatic plants. Visitors can sample local food there. Guided visits also provide insights into the island’s flora and the medicinal properties of the plants.

Providenca offers the self-guided interpretive tour "Lošinj – Island of Captains". The offering also includes the gastro-and-heritage experience "Picnic at the Captain's Table", which combines island cuisine with Lošinj’s maritime heritage.
