Ledenice is closely connected with Gradina Ledenice. The complex stands on a sharply tapering, rocky hill above the village, 376 metres above sea level. Anyone who has chosen Ledenice as a travel destination will want to rent a holiday apartment for their stay.
Landscape
The Gradina viewpoint is located on the Novi Vinodolski–Ledenice road, directly above Ledenice, at an altitude of 379 metres above sea level. From there, the view extends towards the Ledeničko Field, Novi Vinodolski, Klenovica, the Velebit Mountains and the Kvarner Archipelago.
The Ledeničko Field below Gradina is considered an oasis surrounded by hills and mountains. At its edge, below Gradina, lies the Dobra freshwater spring. Veliki Oštri Vrh is also located in the vicinity of Ledenice. Veliki Rujnik, Čubrin Vrh and Veliki Smolnik are situated in the surrounding area of Ledenice.
History
Gradina Ledenice was an important strategic point in the conflicts in eastern Vinodol. Until the liberation of Lika in 1699, Ledenice served as a defensive stronghold against Ottoman incursions.
Culture
The Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel has a main altar dating from 1715. It is dedicated to the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary and influenced by Baroque art.
On a plateau 140 metres from Ledenice Gradina lie the remains of the cemetery chapel of Saint George and an old circular cemetery. The renovated Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel also has a bell dating from 1467, which comes from the old Church of Saint Stephen on Gradina Hill above Ledenice.
