Materada is home to the parish church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Snow. It was built in 1664, expanded in 1941, and preserves an architectural ensemble with a Baroque bell gable and a separate bell tower. Its sacristy also contains the two well-known Glagolitic inscriptions from the Umag area, dated 1531 and 1535.
On 5 August, Materada's parish festival of Our Lady of the Snow included a solemn mass and a procession through the village streets.
In the wider Umag area, bridges, viaducts and tunnels have been preserved along the former railway corridor; organised cycling and hiking trails also run alongside it.

The surrounding area of Materada is home to the Maritime Museum, Sveta Marija na Krasu, Badnjak and Kazalac. In the wider regional surroundings of Materada are Semi, Brajkov Vrh, the Museo d'arte Moderna Ugo Cara and the Museo di Muggia e del Territorio.

Traditional agriculture in Materada includes grape growing and olive cultivation. Materada is located on the Umag–Buje road, near turn-offs towards Brtonigla and Lovrečica.
