The parish church of the Holy Martyrs John and Paul in Žbandaj was built in 1595 on the site of an earlier religious building. The documented elements of cultural heritage include its 20-metre-high bell tower and the holy water font dating from 1688.

Žbandaj was founded by Juraj Filipin. He came from Zemunik near Zadar with 40 families and established the settlement on the site of an abandoned village. Geographically, Žbandaj is located on the Croatian D302 road between Poreč and Baderna, at a junction with the road to Sveti Lovreč Pazenatički.
