The official cycle route 603 Stara Ferata continues along the Parenzana towards Brkač and reaches the main road near Brkač. The circular route 601 Veli Jože also turns towards Brkač and leads onto a forest track before the village.

On the way
The cycle route named Veli Jože runs through the Motovun area and previously follows sections near the Mirna and by the villages of Valenti and Sveti Bartol before climbing up to Brkač. Route 601 Veli Jože also follows a railway embankment. The route also passes through the Motovun Forest, which is considered a truffle habitat.
Below Motovun, the Parenzana runs as a cycling and hiking trail along the former narrow-gauge railway that connected Trieste and Poreč.
Culture and History
Brkač was already inhabited in antiquity. In the area of present-day Brkač, an ancient villa rustica produced building ceramics, roof tiles and bricks. Historical sources mention the place for the first time in the 12th century.
Today's Church of St. Pancras in Brkač was built in 1942 on the site of an older church. A Glagolitic inscription from 1602 has been preserved in the church.
