The official Teran cycling route is a 46-kilometre loop starting from Rabac Riva, has 1,000 metres of elevation gain and takes approximately 4.5 to 5 hours.

On the IstraBike Labin–Rabac map, Ripenda Kras–Bembići is listed as a cycling route point at kilometre 36 and an elevation of 278 metres. Regional cycling route 402 Teran passes through Ripenda Kras and connects Rabac, Ripenda, Plomin Luka, Štrmac, Sv. Martin and Labin.

The Teran cycling route also leads from Labin via Ripenda to Gornji Rabac and then to Rabac’s waterfront promenade. A hiking route following the markings of the Labinski Planinarski Put passes through forests and meadows to an asphalt road near the houses of the hamlet of Ripenda Kras.

The local road designated LC 50155 runs between Ripenda Kras and Labin via ŽC5104 and is listed as having a length of 1.952 kilometres.

Culture and History

The local cemetery is home to the Church of Saint Nicholas, dating from the 18th century.

Until the end of the 16th century, the Ripenda area was almost uninhabited; from the 17th century onwards, more intensive settlement began as people moved in from Dalmatia. Under Italian administration, a mine shaft was opened in Ripenda and closed in the 1980s.

In the hamlet of Vicani, a primary school with Croatian as the language of instruction opened in 1907. During the Second World War, Ripenda was an important partisan base.

The traditional sources of income in Ripenda were predominantly livestock farming and, to a lesser extent, agriculture; at the beginning of the 20th century, the area also had mining and seafaring.
