At Torkop, the family tasting room is designed in an authentic Istrian style using stone and wood. The olives are processed in the cold process at the estate’s own oil mill on the very day of harvest. The olive groves are located on terraced marl and sandstone soil at an elevation of 210 to 290 metres above sea level.

Sovinjak is associated with wine production and the production of high-quality olive oil. According to local tradition, the Roman empress Livia Drusilla drank exclusively wine from Sovinjak.

Culture

In the immediate surroundings, Sovinjak preserves a historic hilltop settlement with remnants of the fortification walls, the Church of Saint George, the Late Gothic Chapel of Saint Roch with wall paintings from 1571, a granary from 1647, and surviving Baroque and Neoclassical houses and palaces.

The nearby area also includes the Chapel of Saint Mary Magdalene in Kaštel Petrapilosa, which remained in use until 1793. Remains of medieval frescoes from this chapel are kept in the Regional Museum in Buzet.

Another traditional dish in the nearby area is Nedeva. It is prepared from dry bread, cheese, eggs, salt and pepper, and then cooked in chicken broth.

Nature

In the regional surroundings of Pračana, Staza 7 slapova is designated by the Buzet Tourist Board as a recreational and hiking trail; 36,000 visitors are reported for 2021.

The planned trail “Šume – zeleno blago Buzeštine” was described as being slightly longer than two kilometres. The planned route was to run along a higher section offering views of nearby villages and Motovunska šuma. As a planned forest educational trail, it was to lead from Pračana and Majeri to Motovunska šuma and the Istarske toplice. The planned trail project included five visitor information boards about Motovunska šuma, forest protection and local forest products.

The nearby summit of Kuk is given as 202 metres.

Orientation

In the wider destination area, public bus transport operates exclusively via individual intercity connections. County Road 5010 is designated as the Gradinje–Pračana road and is connected to DC44.

Casa Garibaldi is located at Pračana 15 and offers views of a park, a forest and a garden.
