Krmed: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Krmed is situated in a landscape where the surrounding hills rise above level cultivated land. In the village centre, well-preserved rural stone house architecture, cisterns and baladurs can be seen; the settlement is divided into two groups of houses.

Cycling Routes

The official cycling route 682 Venetian Signature passes through Krmed between Svetvinčenat and the Lim Channel. It is 92.4 kilometres long, classified as moderately difficult and runs entirely along paved roads.

The cycling route 251 Flavours of the Mediterranean also passes through Krmed, highlighting the historical sights of the village. This route is classified as easy and combines macadam with asphalt.

Culture

In the cultural heritage inventory of the Municipality of Bale, Krmed is listed as a rural ensemble.

Stari grad is a 232.7-metre-high hill with remains of a prehistoric settlement. In the Krmed area, it is considered the best-known and largest hillfort; the remains of the hillfort are visible.

Prehistoric burial mounds are located on Novi grad. They have diameters of approximately 12–18 metres and heights of about 0.50–2 metres.

The Church of St Elisha was rebuilt in 1967 on the site of an older church. Its façade features two older reliefs depicting stars and circles.

History

The area of Krmed was inhabited in prehistoric times. Krmed existed as a settlement in the 13th century. After being abandoned as a result of plague epidemics, the village was resettled in the 16th century by settlers from Dalmatia.

Agriculture in Krmed includes the cultivation of grapes, olives and cereals.

Geographical Location

The D3 state road runs near Krmed but has no direct connection to the settlement.
