Culture and History

Prijevor contains two officially protected religious cultural heritage sites: the Church of St Nicholas at Dračevo Selo 2 and the Monastery and Church of the Visitation of Mary at Na Rivi 1.

The rural settlement of Gornji Prijevor and Stražara lies on hilly terrain about 200 metres north of the present-day main road and Donji Prijevor. Gornji Prijevor and Stražara were already mentioned in records in 1334. Above the settlement, the remains of a watchtower recall the former last guard post of the Republic in the direction of the north and the old route inland.

The architectural heritage in Prijevor includes several classified villa garden complexes: Ivan Nikolin Palmota and Nikola Marinov Rafa Gozze are classified as complexes of the casa grande type. Damjan Ivanov Menze, Vlaho Marinov Bobali and Junije Mihov Cerva belong to the casa padrone type.

Landscape

Prijevor is one of the protected rural units within the cultivated landscape of Rijeka Dubrovačka. Prijevor is also one of the villages in the rural area of Rijeka Dubrovačka covered by Dubrovnik's Local Action Plan for rural tourism and integrated tourism offerings.

Water

The waterway near Prijevor is navigable for ships of any size up to the prominent cape in the settlement. Beyond Prijevor, the river narrows and its depth gradually decreases.
